This Swedish Apple Tart is a rustic, old-fashioned dessert that highlights the natural sweetness of apples and the warm, nutty crunch of walnuts. Unlike a traditional pie with a crust, this tart is more of a soft, cake-like apple dessert, infused with vanilla and topped with apples that bake until tender and fragrant. It’s a simple yet elegant treat that embodies the cozy flavors of fall and winter, perfect for enjoying with coffee or topped with a dollop of whipped cream. Beloved for its balance of light batter and fresh fruit, it has become a timeless Scandinavian-inspired comfort dessert.

- Walnuts are optional but add great crunch and flavor, toast lightly before folding in.
- Add a light dusting of powdered sugar after baking for presentation.
- A pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg can be added if you like warm spice notes.
- Serve warm or room temperature; excellent with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
- Double the recipe as noted on the card if using a larger baking pan or feeding a crowd.
- Line pan with parchment in addition to greasing for easier removal.
- If apples release a lot of juice, drain lightly before folding into batter.
- Replace walnuts with pecans if preferred.
