Ingredients

  • cups chocolate wafer crumbs (from about 1 box)
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 6 tbsp butter ( or margarin, melted)
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup hard peppermint candy (crushed, 13–14 candy canes or 50 star mints)
  • 3 drops liquid red food coloring
  • 2 cups whipping cream (whipped)

Garnishes:

  • whipped cream
  • additional crushed white or red peppermint candy

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare Crust

  • Combine chocolate wafer crumbs, sugar, and melted butter in a bowl. Mix until well combined. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch springform pan. Chill while preparing filling.

Step 2: Make Filling

  • Beat softened cream cheese until light and fluffy. Add sweetened condensed milk and mix until smooth. Stir in crushed peppermint candy and food coloring. Mix well.

Step 3: Fold and Fill

  • Gently fold in the whipped cream until fully incorporated. Pour mixture into the prepared crust.

Step 4: Freeze

  • Cover the pan and freeze until firm, about 4–6 hours or overnight.

Step 5: Garnish and Serve

  • Garnish with whipped cream and additional crushed peppermint candy before serving.

Tips

  • Use a food processor for finer wafer crumbs if desired
  • Chill the crust briefly before adding filling for extra firmness
  • Substitute green food coloring for a different holiday look
  • Adjust crushed peppermint amount for stronger or milder flavor
  • Serve slightly softened for cleaner slices
  • Add chocolate shavings for garnish variation
  • Line pan with parchment for easier removal
  • Freeze overnight for best texture
  • Use stabilized whipped cream for garnish longevity
