Friendship Bread

Friendship Bread
Friendship Bread is a beloved sweet, cinnamon-scented loaf made with a fermented starter that's shared among friends. Known for its tender crumb and rich flavor, the recipe calls for a 10-day fermentation period followed by a delicious batter that’s baked into two moist loaves. Often given as a gift, the bread represents generosity and connection, as the starter is passed along with a portion of the recipe to new bakers. The addition of vanilla pudding and cinnamon makes this a nostalgic favorite with a warm, spiced aroma that fills the kitchen.

We love this little original directions but it’s pretty spare, so our instructions mostly untangle the timing and the order for you without changing the recipe itself. The instructions lay out the starter schedule into daily actions and show exactly when to add and split the starter, and they spell out wet and dry bowls, when to combine them, greasing and sprinkling the pans, and a simple doneness check, so you can follow along without guessing which step comes next.
