Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb dates (stoned and chopped)
  • 1 cup nut meats (chopped)
  • 5 tbsp flour
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder (Royal brand)
  • tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 eggs
  • powdered sugar

Instructions
 

  • Sift the flour and then measure. Sift a second time with the baking powder.
  • Combine all the other ingredients, the eggs unbeaten.
  • Bake in a shallow greased pan in a moderate oven at 325° for about forty five minutes.
  • Cut in squares and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
  • Makes twenty five squares (three quarter inch thick).
