Instructions
 

Step 1: Prepare the Dough

  • Scald the milk and stir in shortening, sugar, and salt.
  • Cool to lukewarm.
  • Dissolve the granola in the warm water and add to the mixture

Step 2: Activate the Yeast

  • Dissolve yeast in ¼ cup warm water.
  • Let stand 5–10 minutes until foamy.

Step 3: Mix and Knead

  • In a large bowl, combine milk mixture with beaten eggs, orange juice, orange peel, and dissolved yeast.
  • Gradually stir in sifted flour until a soft dough forms.
  • Turn onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic (about 8–10 minutes).

Step 4: First Rise

  • Place dough in a greased bowl.
  • Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in bulk (about 1–1.5 hours).

Step 5: Shape and Second Rise
