- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 egg white (beaten stiff)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Oven
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Grease and flour two 9-inch round layer cake pans.
Step 2: Prepare the Chocolate
- Melt ½ bar of German’s Sweet Chocolate in 3 tablespoons hot water.
- Allow to cool slightly.
Step 3: Prepare the Buttermilk
- Stir the baking soda into the buttermilk.
Step 4: Cream the Butter and Sugar
- Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
Step 5: Add the Eggs
- Beat in the eggs one at a time.
Step 6: Alternate Wet and Dry Ingredients
- Add the sifted cake flour alternately with the buttermilk mixture.
- Mix just until incorporated.
Step 7: Finish the Batter
- Blend in the vanilla and melted chocolate.
